Augusta, Maine - The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Governor's Award for Business Excellence through Friday, Feb. 15. Business excellence is epitomized by a balanced combination of manufacturing and service excellence and a steadfast commitment to employees, customers and the community. This award is presented to for-profit companies that consistently demonstrate high levels of attentiveness and dedication in these areas. Supporting this prestigious award, the LePage administration encourages the public, and businesses themselves, to get involved in the nomination process as a way to further highlight and show support for Maine's outstanding business community. "Maine businesses have a sterling reputation for providing quality service and products," DECD Commissioner George Gervais said. "The Governor's Award for Business Excellence recognizes those superlative Maine entities that demonstrate a daily commitment to top-quality workmanship, service and a dedication to excellence. Please consider nominating your favorite for-profit Maine business for this great recognition." Companies of any size that have been in business in Maine for five or more years may be nominated or may nominate themselves. Completed nomination forms, available on DECD's website http://www.maine.gov/decd/start-grow/business-excellence, are due to the department by Friday, Feb. 15. Winners will be notified prior to an award ceremony to be scheduled in the spring of 2013. The Governor's Award for Business Excellence was created in 1991 and, to date, 117 companies have received the award. DECD is proud to administer the excellence awards and to work with a selection committee comprised of past award recipients and business people.
