HMS Pinafore to Set Sail March 8 at Lincoln Theater

Morton Achter rehearses with the sisters, cousins
and aunts of the Pinafore chorus
Damariscotta, Maine - Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT), the resident theater company of Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater, is busily reading to set sail on Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor.  The adventure will be casting off on Friday, March 8 for three performances only.  The production, a concert version with a stalwart gang of more than 50 cast, crew, and orchestra members, is bound to delight both young and old as it chases away the winter doldrums with a dose of G&S’s most popular operetta.

The expeditions are being sponsored by the mates of Peapod Jewelry and have appearances by the Quite Content Chorale and the Never Never Sick at Sea Symphony Orchestra, featuring the Daponte String Quartet.

In a first for LCCT, the company is seeking commissioners (many Queen Isabellas!) to raise the additional monies required  to finance the voyage, by offering numerous bounties for community support, including being added to the ship’s roster, beer at King Eiders Pub, sailors caps, tickets, and perhaps even a private charter on your very own Pinafore to partake of the puffins.  To join in the commissioners, or for more information, please visit our funding site on  www.rockethub.com.

The HMS Pinafore casts off Friday March 8 and Saturday March 9 at 7:30 PM, with a final sail on Sunday March 10 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $12 adults, $5 children and can be purchased at the Lincoln Theater Box Office, Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 5 PM and 1 hour prior to each performance.   Reservations can also be made by calling 563-3424.  The theater is located at 2 Theater Street in Damariscotta.  Additional information can be found by visiting the Theater’s website at www.atthelincoln.org.   Ahoy!
