Boeing Receives Additional US Navy Order for Torpedo Defense Systems‏

FAIRFAX, Virginia  -- Under a newly exercised option for the AN/SLQ-25C system contract, Boeing [NYSE: BA] subsidiary Argon ST will continue to supply U.S. Navy surface ships with countermeasures that lure torpedoes away by mimicking a vessel's propulsion system.
The $8 million option covers production and delivery of eight new AN/SLQ-25C systems – commonly called "Nixie" – under the Navy's Surface Ship Torpedo Defense program. An electro-acoustic towed decoy system, Nixie can communicate with its host ship's network for a fully integrated defense capability.
"Nixie's open architecture allows us to continue to innovate advances in engineering and technology that improve the system's capability and reliability and reduce its cost," said Kim Patterson, Boeing AN/SLQ-25C program manager.
Argon ST has been supporting the Nixie program for the Naval Sea Systems Command since 2002, and has received multiple follow-on awards with options. The order announced today is the first option exercised under the current contract. Production of the new systems will begin in February, primarily at Argon ST's facilities in Smithfield, Pa.
Argon ST is the sole contractor for the design, development and manufacturing of the AN/SQL-25C system, which is protecting more than 400 vessels in navies from more than 20 countries around the world. Nixie is one of Boeing's C4ISR capabilities that support customers' enduring need for situational awareness. Boeing 737 MAX Gets Milestone Order from Aviation Capital Group‏

SEATTLE, Oregon -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] announced today an order by Aviation Capital Group (ACG) for 60 737 MAX airplanes. ACG's order, consisting of 50 737 MAX 8s and 10 737 MAX 9s, was finalized in December 2012. The 737 MAX has now accumulated more than 1,000 orders to date.

"This order is a major step in building our broad portfolio of modern, fuel-efficient airplanes," said Denis Kalscheur, chief executive officer of ACG. "The 737 MAX enables us to offer our customers airplanes that provide the fuel efficiency, reliability and passenger comforts needed to grow in tomorrow's marketplace."

The order, worth $6 billion at current list prices, further illustrates the strong demand for the 737 MAX in the airplane leasing industry.

"We are proud of the confidence that ACG has placed in the 737 MAX," said John Wojick, senior vice president of Global Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "The 737 MAX will deliver to ACG's customers unsurpassed efficiency in the single-aisle market as well as improved environmental performance."

The Next-Generation 737 is the most fuel-efficient and reliable single-aisle airplane today with an 8 percent per-seat operating cost advantage over the nearest competitor. The 737 MAX builds on these strengths with advances in fuel-efficiency and environmental performance. Equipped with new LEAP-1B engines from CFM International and improvements such as the Advanced Technology Winglet, the MAX reduces fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 13 percent while maintaining the 8 percent operating cost advantage over future competition.

These efficiencies have powered the 737 MAX to the impressive order milestone. With ACG's order, the 737 MAX has orders for 1,029 airplanes from airlines and leasing companies worldwide.

Boeing Delivers 2 Nanosatellites to US Air Force SENSE vehicles will validate nanosatellite use in military space

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] has delivered two Space Environmental NanoSat Experiment (SENSE) satellites to the U.S. Air Force that will help assess the value of small satellites in military space operations.

Weighing less than 9 pounds (4 kilograms) each and measuring 30 x 10 x 10 centimeters in size, the nanosats are scheduled to launch on the ORS-3 mission in the summer of 2013 and shortly after will begin collecting and transmitting weather data. Each nanosat contains a sensor and GPS receiver to gather data to support weather prediction and assessments. A miniature S-band transceiver downlinks spacecraft and mission data at one megabit per second.

Satellite shipped to South American launch site


MEXSAT to provide communications services for Mexico

DULLES, Va., Nov. 26, 2012 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and partner Orbital Sciences Corporation [NYSE: ORB] are a step closer to helping the government of Mexico provide advanced communications services throughout the country and surrounding maritime area with the completion of the MEXSAT Bicentenario communications satellite. Orbital designed, manufactured and tested MEXSAT Bicentenario before shipping the completed spacecraft to Kourou, French Guiana, where it is scheduled to be launched aboard an Ariane 5 rocket on Dec. 19.
Under a contract with Boeing, Orbital completed the work on MEXSAT Bicentenario as part of a three-satellite order for the Federal Government of Mexico. As prime contractor for MEXSAT, Boeing is providing two larger satellites in the series that are scheduled for launch in 2013 and 2014. The Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes of Mexico will take over day-to-day operations of the satellites as they are launched and undergo on-orbit testing, verification and positioning.
"MEXSAT Bicentenario is based on Orbital’s flight-proven GEOStar-2 platform, which enabled us to deliver the spacecraft on a short delivery schedule," said Christopher Richmond, Orbital senior vice president of Communications Satellite Programs. "We are looking forward to a successful launch and a smooth on-orbit checkout sequence."
Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems is the overall integrator of the MEXSAT communications network, which will comprise three satellites, two ground telemetry and control sites, associated network operations systems, and reference user terminals. The second and third MEXSAT satellites will be Boeing 702HP geomobile satellites that will each supply 14 kilowatts of power and carry a 22-meter L-band reflector for mobile satellite services.
