Maine Vigilant Guard Exercise 2013 to Kick off Tuesday, November 5

Augusta, Maine - Starting Tuesday, November 5 and continuing through Friday November 8, National Guard Soldiers and Airmen, local and state first responders, local, county and state emergency managers, voluntary agencies and multi-national participants and observers will be conducting a large-scale training exercise at venues all across the State of Maine.

The exercise, called "Vigilant Guard," will begin with a simulated ice storm, followed by simulated blizzard conditions and frigid temperatures. Then other training scenarios will unfold all over the State, including simulated bus accidents, potential intruders, bomb threats and other possible terrorist threats, hazardous materials incidents, collapsed structures and cyber security breaches.

Just as in real life, these simulated events will create consequences that will require emergency intervention. In addition, public health officials will test their plans to distribute and dispense of emergency medications, and the American Red Cross will be exercising some of their critical emergency functions.

USA Gymnastics names 2013 Women's World Championships Team

Huntsville, Texas – 2012 Olympic team gold-medalists McKayla Maroney of Long Beach, Calif./All-Olympia Gymnastics Center, and Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max Gymnastics, are among the four women named to the U.S. Team for the 2013 World Championships, scheduled for Sept. 30-Oct. 6 in Antwerp, Belgium. 2013 U.S. all-around champion Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/Bannon's Gymnastix, Inc., and 2013 all-around bronze-medalist Brenna Dowell of Odessa, Mo./GAGE, complete the squad. The team was selected following the conclusion of the 2013 World Championships Team Selection Camp, held at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Camp at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site, in Huntsville, Texas.

The 2013 World Championships is an individual championships, which means there is no team competition and each gymnast will be coached by her personal coach.

The competition schedule for the World Championships is: Sept. 30 – men's qualification, 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Oct. 1 – men's and women's qualification, 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.; Oct. 2 – women's qualification, 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.; Oct. 3 – men's all-around finals, 8 p.m.; Oct. 4 – women's all-around finals, 8 p.m.; Oct. 5 – event finals, men's floor exercise, pommel horse and still rings and women's vault and uneven bars, 2:30 p.m.; and Oct. 6 – event finals, men's vault, parallel bars and horizontal bars, and women's balance beam and floor exercise, 2:30 p.m. Based on the draw, the women are competing in the qualification round in: Subdivision 1, vault; Subdivision 3, uneven bars; Subdivision 4, floor exercise. The men's draw is: Subdivision 1, starts on parallel bars; Subdivision 3, parallel bars; Subdivision 4, floor exercise.

The members of the U.S. Men's Team for the World Championships are: Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./Team Hilton HHonors (University of Oklahoma); Steven Legendre of Port Jefferson, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (Oklahoma); 2013 U.S. all-around champion Sam Mikulak of Newport Coast, Calif./University of Michigan; Alexander Naddour of Queen Creek, Ariz./Team Hilton HHonors (USA Youth Fitness Center); John Orozco of the Bronx, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center); and Brandon Wynn, Voorhees, N.J./Team Hilton HHonors (Ohio State University). The remaining alternates are: Eddie Penev of Penfield, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (Stanford University); and Paul Ruggeri of Manlius, N.Y./Team Hilton Honors (U.S. Gymnastics Developmental Center II).

The women's team was determined by the Selection Committee. The criteria considered when selecting the team included: results from the P&G Championships; hit consistency and results from past international and national competitions; D-scores for difficulty, and E-scores for execution; consistency; medal potential; composition of individual strengths among the team members; readiness to compete; etc.

The 26th Annual Camden Conference, The Middle East - What Next? takes place February 22-24, 2013, live from the Camden Opera House and simulcast to satellite venues, the Strand Theatre in Rockland, the Hutchinson Center in Belfast, and the Grand in Ellsworth.
The Conference convenes on Friday evening, February 22nd, with the keynote address at 8PM, and continues on Saturday, February 23rd from 8:30AM – 5PM and again on Sunday, February 24th from 9:00AM-12:30PM.

Madison Pettis "Life With Boys" Premieres Tonight February 6th

Fans of Madison Pettis in the United States will be able to watch her in an all new TeenNick series called "Life With Boys". "Life With Boys" is set to premiere on TeenNick tonight, Wednesday February 6th, 2013 at 8pm. This all new series stars Madison Pettis and Torri Webster to name a few is about. What do you do if you're a thirteen year old girl, trying to navigate the waters of teen life, and your only touchstones at home are a single macho dad and three brothers? Sure, they love you and you love them, but they're guys with totally different perspectives on life and, well, they're guys! Luckily Tess has Ally, her super girlie BFF, to help navigate the highs and lows of school and provide a much-needed female perspective into a life with boys.

Madison Pettis in this series plays Allie Brooks. Her character is much more girly and boy focused, she and Tess have been besties since forever. Allie used to be a bit more rough and tumble, but let's just say hormones kicked in sooner for her than for her BFF. She is more into appearance and popularity than Tess and will constantly try to get Tess to "girly" it up and go along more.

Demi Lovato To Perform At Huston Rodeo March 3rd, 2013

HUSTON, Texas - Great news for Demi Lovato fans! Demi Lovato on March 3rd, 2013 will be performing at the Huston Rodeo in Huston, Texas around 3:45pm. New Mexico born and Texas raised, Demi Lovato gained a large following after several years as a superstar in the popular television movie series, “Camp Rock,” and as the main character in “Sonny With a Chance.” She released songs on soundtracks for both shows.

Body of Proof Returns February 19th, 2013

ABC series Body of Proof will be returning February 19th, 2013 at 10pm The premiere return episode is entitled "Abducted - Part 1". In this return episode of Body of Proof, Megan returns to work months after Peter's death, and she is surprised by a man from her past-Tommy Sullivan (Mark Valley, "Fringe"), the new detective assigned to her case. Megan, along with Tommy and his rookie partner, Adam Schaeffer (Elyes Gabel, "Game of Thrones"), must stop a serial killer whose victims are young war veterans. As she learns more about the crime, the stakes rise when she gets a call from the killer -- who is holding her teenage daughter, Lacey, hostage.

Oceanside High School Freshman Girls Basketball at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill. Game starts at 10 a.m. Bus departs Oceanside East only at 8 a.m.  

Oceanside High School Varsity Wrestling at Medomak Valley. Weigh-In at 9 a.m.; Wrestle at 10 a.m. Team will provide transportation.

Unity College to Host Maine’s Largest Environmental Career Fair on February 6

Unity, Maine - An annual tradition of connecting employers with job seekers looking for work in the growing “green” job market will once again take place at Unity College.  On Wednesday, February 6, Unity College Career Services will host the most extensive environmentally focused career fair to take place in Maine this year, in the Tozier Gymnasium on the Unity campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
     Unity College is located at 90 Quaker Hill Road, Unity.
     There will be a virtual component to the career fair, with a number of employers communicating with prospective employees by Skype.  Businesses that cannot attend but wish to participate by Skype may contact career services at (207) 948-9271.
     The environmental career recruitment event is free and open to the general public, though focused on recruitment of recent or anticipated college graduates from across New England.  Sponsored by the Unity College Career Resource Center, the event is expected attract over 60 employers.

"Cheat, Play, Love" Premieres Tonight January 15th, 2013

Fans of the ABC Family series The Lying Game will be able to watch and enjoy an all new episode tonight at 9pm entitled "Cheat, Play, Love". In this all new episode, Emma is shocked by a Rybak family revelation and Sutton makes her feelings for Ethan known.

More about tonight's all new episode, Sutton steps up her plans to win back Ethan, and makes a point to let Emma know her intentions. Feeling left out of Emma and Thayer's growing closeness, Mads visits her father in prison and shocks Emma with a family revelation. Dan continues his investigation into Derek's murder, regardless of Alec's arrest, and Jordan starts at his new school and tries to get close to Laurel.

Castle "Under the Influence" Premieres Tonight January 14th, 2013

Fans of the ABC series Castle will be able to watch an all new episode tonight at 10pm entitled "Under the Influence". In this all new episode of Castle, When an up and coming DJ is killed at a pop star's album release party, Beckett and Castle must dive into the raucous world of New York's music industry. Then, when the investigation leads to a troubled teenager, Esposito takes the kid under his wing, hoping to put him on the right track before it's too late.

Taylor Cole ("The Glades") guest stars as Regina Cane, an aging pop star who has a shadow cast on her album launch party when the DJ is murdered, and Michael Irby ("Law Abiding Citizen") guests as Shane Winters, a criminal who may have a history with the DJ.
