Rockland Public Library : Ukulele Series to Continue

Rockland, Maine - Adults and young adults of all skill levels are invited to learn the ukulele with experienced music educator Heather Beers in the Rockland Public Library’s Community Room on Saturdays from 1-2 PM, ongoing, beginning July 9. The workshops are interactive, so bring a concert or soprano ukulele, wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and get ready for a fun and engaging musical

experience.  A limited number of ukuleles will be provided for those who do not own one. Participants will learn the strings, chords, melodies, and strumming patterns of favorite songs while having fun.  Although attendance at all classes is not required, consistent attendance will help students improve. As singing will be part of instruction, the instructor strongly recommends that participants wear masks.

Heather Beers is currently a DME candidate at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in Music Education. A new resident of Rockland Maine, she previously taught ukulele and general music at URBAN Act Academy in Indianapolis and was a violin instructor at the Fairview Strings Project in Bloomington, Indiana.
