Gawler Family Band concert on the Rockland Public Library lawn

Rockland, Maine - The Rockland Public Library presents the Gawler Family Band, Thursday, July 7, at 6:00 p.m., on the lawn of the Rockland Public Library. This event is free and open to all.

The Gawler Family Band brings you a delightful assortment of songs and tunes rooted in the traditional music

of Maine and the Northeast. Inspired by years of playing for dances in the old Grange halls, the Gawlers may be best known for their rollicking renditions of dance tunes in 'the Downeast style' with its origins in the Scots-Irish and French Canadian traditions. The full band has a gorgeous sound, creating rich vocal harmonies backed by spirited string instruments, including guitar, banjo, fiddle, cello, and bass. For many years, the Gawler Family have shared their music at countless festivals, farms, concerts and schools, joyfully enlivening a sense of grassroots connection and community. With their sparkling musicianship and infectious spirit, the Gawlers have found a warm place in the hearts of audiences of all ages. Bring a chair or picnic blanket from home and come listen and sing along with this fun-loving, folk-singing, fiddle-playing Maine family band!

Rain date: Tuesday, July 12, at 6:00 PM.
