Mosca Finishes First For Second Straight Week, Women’s Cross Country Places Third

WATERVILLE, Maine – For the second straight week, the University of Southern Maine women’s cross country freshman athlete Olivia Mosca (Brewer, ME) finished first at the Thomas College Cross Country Invitational late Saturday morning. The Huskies, as a team finished in third place out of four programs.

 

RESULTS


USM totaled 63 points as a team while Husson

University took home first place with 37 markers. Mosca completed the five-kilometer run in 23:42.6 for her second top spot of the early season. Husson’s Ava Dowling finished two seconds behind her as runner-up at 23:44.1.

 

Sophomore Vanessa DiRisi (Scarborough, ME) finished just out of the top-10 in 11th place at 27:22.3 while teammate, senior Rachael Raymond (Waterboro, ME) rounded out the top-20 finishes with 16th place at 28:26.9. Junior Maddie Fornasier (South Burlington, Vt.) came in 22nd with a 29:19.7 showing.

 

Sophomore Amy Forester (York, ME) and junior Cassandra Kane (Topsham, ME) crossed the finish line right behind each other in 22nd and 23rd place with 33:25.6 and 33:54.5 times. Freshman Tatiana Jonk (Gorham, ME) and junior Jillian Taylor (Hermon, ME) posted 35:56.5 and 37:43.1 times respectively.

 

The navy and gold will return to the course next Saturday, September 18th in their final tune-up before the Maine State Championships. The Huskies will compete at the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth Invitational with a 10:30 a.m. gun start.
