Huskies Drop Non-Conference Match to Thomas 7-2



WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Thomas College Women's Tennis team won five singles points and two doubles points on their way to a 7-2 win over Southern Maine on Wednesday in Waterville. With the win, Thomas moves to 4-4 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 0-4.



Emma Nassif (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy)

and sophomore Kenadi Sawyer (Windham, Maine/Windham) earned the Huskies' lone point in doubles competition, picking up an 8-4 win over the Terriers' Lauren Smith (Waterville Maine) and Kiara Goggin (West Gardiner, Maine). This win is the second consecutive victory at first doubles for Nassif and Sawyer. Sophomore Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and freshman Breanna Miclette (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) teamed up at second doubles, pushing Thomas's Riley Pierce (Watertown, N.Y.) and Magan Williams (Oakland, Maine), before falling 8-3. Junior Audrey Richdale (Belfast, Maine/Belfast) made her first appearance of the season in doubles play for the Huskies, playing at third doubles with sophomore Jordan Cote (Hope, Maine/Camden Hills Regional). The pair dropped their match against RenĂ©e Rossi (Randolph, Maine) and Cassidy Hamm (Pittsfield, Maine) 8-1.


Nassif continued her strong play, picking up her second straight win at first singles, with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Goggin. Sawyer, Miclette, Rachel Grome (Franklin, Mass./Franklin), and Richdale all fell in their matches at second, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles respectively. Brock dropped her match at third singles 6-1, 6-3, putting up a tough fight against Williams in the second set.



The Huskies are back in action Saturday, September 25 as they host Bridgewater State University in a conference match at 12pm at Gorham High School.
