“Activating Leadership: How to Strengthen Personal Power” at the Camden Public Library with Betty Woodman and New Ventures Maine. This free workshop will take place in the Picker Room at 4:00 pm on Monday, May 15.
Leadership begins with leading yourself. This discussion examines productive and unproductive uses of power that can strengthen or weaken us, along with ways to promote self-awareness and personal leadership. The talk brings together workplace and personal experiences to look at why this topic is particularly important during career transitions.
Betty Woodman received a Ph.D. in Applied Ethics from Emory University and also holds an M.A. in Philosophy and B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. After working in engineering, sales/marketing, and executive management, Betty returned to graduate school to study leadership and power relations through a lens of systems thinking and social psychology. Currently, Betty teaches leadership and marketing at the University of Maine in Orono and consults on leadership development through her firm, Contemporary Leadership Institute.
