The Summit Project Partners with Boothbay Region High School for Tribute March to Fisherman’s Memorial and Stone Ceremony

Boothbay Harbor, Maine – The Summit Project (TSP) will conduct a tribute march on November 11, 2015 hosted by Boothbay Region High School. The Summit Project is a Maine-based nonprofit whose mission is to recognize and honor Maine Veterans who have passed away since September 11th, 2001. Families of these fallen heroes have unearthed and donated a special memorial stone that uniquely represents their loved one. TSP engraves the stones and then carries these tribute stone and their stories on treks throughout Maine and across the world.

At 9:00am volunteer students will hike these commemorative stones around the Boothbay Region stopping at the Fisherman’s Memorial for a sharing circle where they will take turns sharing what they have learned about the individual soldiers. The students will then hike to the Boothbay Harbor Town Office. The hike will last approximately three hours.

At 1:00 the hikers will finish their march by participating in the Veteran's Day Parade leaving from the Boothbay Harbor Town Office and concluding at Boothbay Region High School. A ceremony will be held directly after the parade in The Porter Memorial Gymnasium. Guest speaker will be Major Devin Robinson, Spokesperson for the Maine Air National Guard. Students will then place their stones in a memorial display case that will be housed at BRHS for one month.

This event is open to students, faculty, parents and community members of the Boothbay Region.
