WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – J. Chase Reidelbach (Virginia
Beach, Va.) led the Mariners to a 37th place finish at the ECAC
Championship on Saturday, hosted by Williams College The field of nearly
300 athletes included teams from more than 40 colleges and
universities.
Reidelbach finished 182nd out of the 277 runners with a time of 30:56 on the 8k course. Paul Ferreira (Castine, Maine) finished closely behind in 184th (30:57), while teammates Seth Tacheny (Dixfield, Maine) placed 221st (32:30), Avery LeClerc placed 244th (33:22), Truman Slocum (Phippsburg, Maine) placed 250th (33:57). Arik Akerberg (Milton, N.H.) and Hayden Norwood (Bucksport, Maine) placed back-to-back in 264th and 265th respectively to round out the field for the Mariners.
Liam Simpson of Williams was the top individual in 26:24. Led by top
runners Steve Lucey and Jack Wesley, Amherst took home the team
championship with a total of 53 points. Williams was the runner-up with
77 points and Middlebury took third with 117 points. Colby and Tufts
rounded out the top five with 145 and 152 points, respectively.
The Mariners will return to action next Saturday, November 14th at the NCAA DIII Regional Championships hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Park in Waterfort, Conn.
