Eagles finish fifth in NAC Championship

BANGOR, Maine – Colby Sawyer won the 2015 North Atlantic Conference women's cross country championship on Saturday, October 31, 2015 hosted by Husson University at Saxl Park in Bangor, Maine. Abby Shafter of New England College won her third straight women's title with a time of 20:07.20.

The women's runner-up was UMaine Farmington, who placed second with a score of 59 in the 5K course. Castleton was third with a score of 90 followed by Maine Maritime (124), Husson (149), New England College (174), Lyndon (189), Green Mountain (197), Thomas (232) and Johnson State (244).

Shafer won her third straight individual NAC title in 2015, completing the 5K course nearly 30 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Emily Lopez and Lauren Oligny of Colby Sawyer, finished second and third respectively in 20:36.56 and 20:43.47. Allison Granata of New England College crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 21:52.12. Colby Sawyer's Martha Aschale placed fifth in 21:54.01. Laura Pulito of UMaine Farmington was sixth in 21:58.97, while Haley Kennedy and Elizabeth Bassette, both of Castleton, finished seventh and eighth with times of 22:01.75 and 22:08.34 respectively. Jordan Springmann of Colby Sawyer, who finished in ninth with a 22:10.83. Emma Pidden of UMaine Farmington placed tenth in 22:14.70, followed by Rachel Springmann of Colby Sawyer in 22:18.56. Alisha Labbe of UMaine Farmington was 12th in 22:23.15, followed by Kateri Jeffery of Husson in 22:24.83. Nicole Morris of Colby Sawyer was 14th in 22:31.59, while Hannah Emery of UMaine Farmington rounded out the top 15 in 22:34.62.

Other Eagles who ran on the day were Morgan Clifford, placed 21st with a time of 23:17.87, Shannon Buncewas 35th in 24:07.54, Jessica Cole in 45th with a 24:40.49, Stephanie Adamczyk and Samantha Martin, finished 53rd and 54th with times of 24:54.74 and 24:56.88 while Madison Cole finished 56th in 25:28.98, followed by Shannon Staples in 64th with a 26:22.88, Paige Rainford finished in 67th in 26:36.64, Stacey Tutela placed 76th with a time of 27:14.69 and Kathrine Medeiros crossed the finish line in 102nd with a 32:06.90.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, November 7th at the 2015 ECAC Championship in Williamstown, Mass. hosted by Williams College.
