Camden International Film Festival and Points North set 2016 dates: September 15 to 18

Camden, Maine - The Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) and Points North Documentary Forum have set their 2016 dates -- September 15 to 18, 2016 -- in Camden, Rockport and Rockland, Maine.

This past September, Camden International Film Festival exhibited 86 features and short films from across the globe, the country and the state of Maine. Through both the Festival and its Points North Documentary Forum, CIFF hosted over 100 filmmakers, film industry representatives and journalists. Attendance at CIFF significantly increased in 2015, pass sales increased by over 20%, and  filmmakers were in attendance at almost every screening, making CIFF’s 11th edition their biggest, most successful festival to date.

For the first year in the festival’s history, the majority of attendees (around 53%) came from outside the Midcoast Maine area and just under half of passholders were attending the Festival and Forum for the first time. Of the attendees, over half attended CIFF’s Points North Documentary Forum, a gathering of the international documentary community that continues to grow in significance.

In the coming months, CIFF and Points North will be announcing a year-round, statewide screening tour focusing on the theme of Sustainable Maine -- the result of their annual Points North Engagement Summit. There will also be announcements about the monthly CIFF Selects film series at the Camden Opera House, and about expanded opportunities in 2016 for filmmakers with works-in-progress.

Filmmakers may submit their completed documentaries (features and shorts) to CIFF or their works-in-progress to the Points North Fellowship starting in January 2016. Check out CIFF’s website for further information on upcoming programs and guidelines for submitting films in the coming months.
