Blue Hill, Maine - The public is invited to participate in the Blue Hill Public Library Play Reading Group on Wednesday, March 18th from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at the Library, and every 3rd Wednesday of the month until next summer. This month the group will read Rob Urbinati’s Death By Design: A Comedy With Murder.

Inspired by Agatha Christie mysteries, Death by Design is set at a British country manor in 1930.  All sorts of mysterious guests arrive who have secrets and, when examined closely, motives for murder.

Music and Movement for Infants and Toddlers

The Blue Hill Public Library is pleased to announce the return of a special weekly music and movement program for infants and toddlers on Wednesdays during the first half hour of the Library’s “Playgroup” starting March 18th at 10:30 AM.  The sessions will be led by early childhood music educator Deborah Reinke, and will be weekly through April 15th. Regular playgroup on these dates will start at 11:00.

Caregivers and children will be encouraged to listen, chant and physically respond to age-appropriate songs that encourage language skills and stimulate brain development. These sessions will be geared toward both infants being held and toddlers who can follow along with the movement and singing.  Along with the music, Deborah will use silk scarves, musical instruments and other items to engage participants.

The library has kits of music cds, musical instruments and songbooks for parents to check out, that will enhance what is presented during these sessions.  Families will be able to bring home what they learn from Deborah’s program and continue to provide a rich musical environment for their children at home.

Children’s Author Event: Tamra Wight at the

Blue Hill Public Library

Maine children’s author Tamra Wight, will do a presentation for all ages at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:30 PM.  All aspiring writers will want to attend this special program. She will talk about the wildlife inspiration and research that went into her Cooper and Packrat mystery series for middle schoolers. She will also show wildlife photos and tell first-hand stories of the wildlife scenes she has witnessed; loons switching places on the nest, three generations of eagles fighting over a fish, banding eaglets, and pictures from the small box canyon featured in one of her stories.

Her first middle-grade eco-adventure was published by Islandport Press in August of 2013: Cooper and Packrat: Mystery on Pine Lake. Book 2 in this series, Mystery of the Eagle’s Nest, was released in August 2014. She is currently working on Mystery of the Missing Fox, due to be released in Spring 2016. Tamra lives in beautiful Poland Spring, Maine where she and her family owns and operates Poland Spring Campground.


This event is open to the public and is made possible by a grant from the Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust through the Maine Community Foundation.  All ages are welcome and Tamra's books will be available for purchase and signing.
