“Just Teachers” Trekkapalooza “Bus Band 2015” Winner

Just Teachers was the winner of Trekkapalooza 2015, earning the title of “Best Bus Band”.
Rockland, Maine - The winner of Trekkers’ 10th annual Trekkapalooza event on March 27th was Just Teachers. Winning the title of “Bus Band 2015,” Just Teachers was chosen by a combination of judges’ scores and audience vote.  It was a sold-out evening, with this year’s  “Battle of the Bands” competition featuring a fun Beatles theme, with each band playing at least one Beatles cover song during their set.

Just Teachers was also a 2013 Trekkapalooza winner and is comprised of a group of educators from the Midcoast. Band members are Adam Bullard (vocals and the occasional guitar), Matt Smith (vocals, electric, and acoustic guitar), Ian McKenzie (keyboards), Piet Lammert (drums and vocals) and  Lucas Benner (bassist). Taking second place in this year’s competition was newcomer Something in the Water, consisting of Brendan Whittaker on guitar, Chris Carlson on bass, Marcus Carter on drums, and Annette Young providing vocals.

The other bands that participated in the exciting line-up included last year’s winning band Hologram, along with J-Dawg and the Hounds, Galactic Seagull and Fading Dawn.  Judges for this year’s competition were Oceanside High School East Principal Renee Thompson, Oceanside High School East teachers Sue Bragg and Ian Carey, and Oceanside High School students Leila Chammas and Jordan Carpenter. All proceeds from the show benefit Trekkers, a youth mentoring organization that serves 7th through 12th grade students growing up in the communities of Regional School Unit #13.
