Sea Dogs and Curve suspended due to rain

Portland leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the third when play resumes Thursday
Altoona, Pa. -  The Portland Sea Dogs and Altoona Curve were suspended on Wednesday night due to rain, with the Sea Dogs leading 2-1 heading to the bottom of the third inning.  On Thursday night, the two teams will conclude the suspended game as regularly scheduled nine-inning game, but game two will be a seven-inning contest.

The game went into a delay at 7:43 and officially suspended at 8:07

For the second straight night, the 'Dogs scored early, receiving a two-run homer by Stefan Welch in the second inning. Welch, a former Altoona Curve (2012-13), gave Portland a 2-0 lead off Adrian Sampson.  Altoona added a run in their half of the second with two outs. Willy Garcia singled, advanced to third on a single by Gift Ngoepe and scored on a throwing error by right-fielder Bo Greenwell.

Keith Couch allowed three hits, one unearned run and fanned three over two innings pitched.

The Sea Dogs and Curve resume action with the suspended game at 5:00PM from Peoples Natural Gas Field. In game two, Portland is slated to send LHP Mickey Pena (2-1, 6.17) to the hill and he will face RHP Nick Kingham (1-7, 3.04) of the Curve. Radio coverage begins at 4:40 PM on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network. MiLB.TV coverage starts at 4:55 PM.
