Runners and Walkers Enjoy 1st Annual Thomaston Trek

THOMASTON, Maine — Nearly 80 people, young and old, ran or walked their way into a glorious late-Spring June morning to celebrate Trekkers’ 1st annual Thomaston Trek on Saturday, June 7. The 5k/10k walk/run event, held in warm, breezy conditions, began and ended at at the Lyman-Morse parking lot near the Town Landing. The course worked its way around the historic streets of Thomaston, with the 10K course repeating the 5K loop.

Leland Chang of New York, NY, came in first overall for the 5K race, finishing in 17:09, with Lucas Brower of Camden finishing second in 19:51, and Steve Cartwright finishing third in 20:38. The top three women in the 5K were Kimberly Maxcy-Chang of New York NY, 22:48; Catherine Sally of Thomaston finishing in 27:54; and Ariel Clark of Wiscasset finishing in 28:50.

The overall winner of the10K race was Darren Winchenbach of Waldoboro, finishing in 40:30.
Luke Snow of Spruce Head finished second in 43:44 and Alan Bruton of Rockland finished third in 43:45. The top three women in the 10K were Hannah Raymond of Belfast, 50:46; Tammy King of Thomaston, 50:52; and Betsy Lawrence of Spruce Head, 54:22.

Prizes were given to the top male and female finishers in each age group.

5K:

For the 13-25 Age Bracket: Dayton Dinsmore 20:56 and Meredith Mitchell 36:28.

For the 26-40 Age Bracket: Leland Chang 17:0 and Kim Maxcy-Chang 22:48.

For the 41-55 Age Bracket: Michael Phillips 30:30 and Katherine Sally 27:54.

For the 55+ Age Bracket: Steve Cartwright 20:38 and Jan Letourneau 45:46.
