How to Stay Safe on Social Media: A Talk at the Blue Hill Public Library

Blue Hill, Maine - Blue Hill Public Library will host a talk by Nina Milliken, Education Coordinator for Downeast Sexual Assault Services about “Cyber-Safety,” how to stay safe on social media, Wednesday June 12th at 6:30 PM. The talk will be geared toward 4th graders and older, and their parents, as well as any other concerned community members.

When online, children may encounter inappropriate content, sexual predators looking for children, theft of personal information, and cyber-bullying or harassment. Nina will provide tips for avoiding these problems and provide information on where to go for help if dealing with such an issue.

Downeast Sexual Assault Services is part of Downeast Health Services, and offers education, short term counseling, support groups, hospital and court accompaniment, and advocacy for free to people affected by sexual abuse and the public.  Both organizations serve Hancock and Washington Counties. DSAS is funded in part by United Way.

The event is free and open to the public.  For more information contact Pat at 374-5515.
