Thursday, June 6

“Songwriters Coffeehouse” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Annual showcase for the library songwriters who have been working on their new songs all winter. Led by veteran songwriters David Dodson and Jim James. Free; donations accepted.


Monday, June 10
 MiMi McGee will present “The Power of Food for your Health” at the Camden Public Library at 12:00 noon, as part of the Wellness Series co-sponsored by the library and the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.


Tuesday, June 11
 Regular meeting of the Tuesday Book Club, 1:00 at the Camden Public Library; all are welcome, please call 470-7473 for more information. The group meets monthly on the second Tuesday.


Tuesday, June 11
 Camden Philosophical Society Reading Group meeting, 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All those with an interest in reading and discussion are welcome. The June meeting will feature short texts written by two artists, Luis Jacob and Philip Buntin, and by French philosopher Gaston Bachelard. For more info contact Info@philosophyedge.com.


Tuesday, June 11
 Camden Rockport Middle School eighth-grade students will share their adventures and photos of their trip to Japan at the Camden Public Library on June 11 at 7:00 pm. For 15 years, the middle school has taken part in this vibrant exchange program in northern Japan through the generosity of many businesses and people here.


Thursday, June 13
 Author and NBC journalist Jack Perkins will talk about his book, Finding Moosewood, Finding God: What Happened When a TV Newsman Abandoned His Career for Life on an Island, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Sherman’s Books will have books on hand for signing.


Tuesday, June 18
 Noted cook and author Elinor Klivans will be at the Camden Public Library at 7:00 pm  to talk about her newest book, Slice & Bake Cookies: Fast Recipes from your Refrigerator or Freezer. Klivans is an award-winning pastry chef trained in France and the United States.


Wednesday, June 19, 1:00 pm
 Low tide beach walk at the head of Camden Harbor led by Diann Henderson, student with the Maine Master Naturalist Program. Meet in the Camden Public Library at 1:00 pm for a short introduction followed by an interactive walk at low tide (wear  shoes or boots suitable for mud!).


Thursday, June 20
 Camden cave photographer and potter Peter Jones will show exquisite new photos from the caves under the Guadalupe Mountains, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Jones has been exploring and photographing the underground world for 44 years. He spent two weeks in April photographing in eight different caves under the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico.
