LOWELL, Mass. -- Bailey Snowberger registered two hits and scored a run as the University of Maine softball team dropped its series finale at UMass Lowell by a final of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.

How it happened:
- The River Hawks plated single runs in the first and second innings to jump out to a 2-0 lead.
- Thyanais Santiago's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth stretched the lead to 4-0 before Avery Spinello drove in her second run of the day with an RBI double.
- Maine got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth when Snowberger came in to score on a passed ball.
- The River Hawks added a run in the home half of the sixth when Elizabeth Neeld singled up the middle to bring in Emily Tow.
Game notes:
- Alysen Rieth started the game in the circle for Maine and tossed 1.2 innings while allowing a pair of runs on five hits to go along with a strikeout.
- Ava Zettlemoyer struck out a pair in 3.0 innings of work while surrendering three runs while Madison Simmerman threw 1.1 innings in relief, striking out one and giving up one unearned run.
- Snowberger led Maine's offense, finishing the day 2-of-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.
Maine returns to action in its home opener when it hosts UMBC for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 5. Game one is set to begin at noon.
