Maine Behavioral Healthcare Clinicians Achieve Accreditation to Expand Services to Western Maine Families

PORTLAND, MAINE – Kristie Worster, director of Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s clinical services in Norway, announced today that licensed clinical social workers Alyssa Morrison and Nina Williams have achieved Positive Parenting Program accreditation, an advanced-level training for practitioners focused on the prevention and treatment of behavioral and emotional disorders in children and teens.

Also known as Triple P accreditation, the training Morrison and Williams completed is grounded in an international evidence-based program designed to promote positive

parenting practices in the community and prevent a range of social and behavioral problems in children.

To become accredited, Morrison and Williams passed two exams and completed four competencies demonstrating, through role-play, the ability to administer the principles and techniques of Triple P. As accredited providers, Morrison and Williams can now accept and treat parents and families who are experiencing difficult behaviors.

Morrison, whose recent social work experience has focused on children and families within the child protective system and school-based settings, earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Southern Maine and her Master’s in Social Work at Syracuse University.

Williams is a generalist clinician whose experience includes treating adults with PTSD using Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She earned a Bachelor’s in Art History at the University of Maryland and her Master’s in Social Work at the University of New England.
