Kane Takes Individual Medalist Honors, Huskies Finish Second at Queenan Memorial

CASCO, Maine – University of Southern Maine senior team captain Brogan Kane (Scarborough, ME) shot a tournament-low 74 (+2) en route to co-individual medalist honors as the Huskies finished in second place during the 18th Annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament hosted by the Saint Joseph’s College of Maine at the Point Sebago Golf Club.


RESULTS

 

Kane was the team leader and was an even 37

each through the front and back nine for his first-place tie with Trevor Flanagan of Saint Joseph’s. As a squad, Southern Maine put together a 312 (+24) combined team score trailing the host Monks by one (311, +23) for the team championship. The University of New England came in third place at 319 (+31).

 

Fellow team captain Carter Burnell (Biddeford, Maine) along with sophomore Zach Ellsworth (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) racked up 78 (+6) showings for the Navy and Gold which deadlocked them both for fourth place. Burnell knocked off two strokes from his front nine showing making him the most improved Husky at the turn.

 

Junior John Welch (South Portland, ME) produced an 82 (+10) for a tie of 15th while teammate, senior Matt Fuller (Mirror Lake, NH) tacked on an 88 (+16) for good measure.

 

Southern Maine has 11 days in between their next competition, the University of Maine - Farmington Invitational at the Waterville Country Club on Sunday, September 19th.
