The Maine Engineering Promotional Council (MEPC) is pleased to announce that 16 schools have been selected as recipients to receive a bus grant to help defer transportation costs to get students to the Maine Engineering Expo at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham campus on March 4th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The amount of each bus grant is up to $500.00 for direct transportation costs.
Due to the outstanding support of our sponsors, this is the fourth year MEPC was able to provide bus grants to schools throughout Maine. Reading through the bus grant applications was truly humbling, and we’re excited to provide an opportunity for your students to visit a college campus. The drive and interest of students of all ages in learning more about STEM career options is inspiring. And the level of commitment, dedication, and energy from teachers and staff is admirable. We trust that both students and teachers will find the EXPO rewarding, fun, and educational.

About MEPC
National Engineers Week was initiated to publicly promote the work and contributions of our nation's engineers. During this week, engineering professionals have a unique opportunity to increase public awareness of the positive contributions engineers make to their communities, to this nation, and to the world. National Engineers Week has grown to involve tens of thousands of engineers in a variety of community outreach activities, including technology exhibits and presentations of student scholarships.
In Maine, Engineers Week has been celebrated through an annual E-Week Banquet and EXPO, where engineers, educators, and students have gathered for hands-on activities and workshops to learn about engineering and what engineers do.
The Maine Engineering Promotional Council (MEPC) works behind the scenes to increase the visibility of engineering in Maine through the two E-Week events where we attract 1700 +/- people each year. The annual E-Week events are held at either the University of Maine in Orono or the University of Southern Maine in Gorham to cover most of the state.
The MEPC board is comprised of academic and industry members who all are committed to raising awareness of engineering through the Banquet and EXPO E-Week events.
