Maritime captain & cookbook author Annie Mahle will present an illustrated talk at the Rockland Public Library on Thursday, February 2 at 6:30 PM.
Rockland, Maine - Captain Annie Mahle and her husband, Captain Jon Finger, run the Maine windjammer, the Schooner J. & E. Riggin. Not only is Annie a maritime captain, she also is the captain of her galley where she has been cooking meals for the last 18 years on her cast iron woodstove. She is a three-time cookbook author (At Home, At Sea (2004), Sugar & Salt: A Year At Home and At Sea - The Blue Book (2012) and most recently Sugar & Salt: A Year At Home and At Sea - The Orange Book(2016)) and has appeared on the Today Show and on the Food Network. She will give an illustrated talk on cooking a woodstove, raising a family on a boat, and being a steward of National Historic Landmark (The National Park Service designated the J&E Riggin as a National Historic Landmark in 1991). Books will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. in Rockland. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Rockland Public Library, is free and open to the public.
