EXCLUSIVE Musician Spotlight: Aitana and Paula of Twin Melody

Twin eighteen year old sisters Aitana and Paula are beautiful and wonderful singers who make up the singing duo Twin Melody. Our founder/editor David Mills recently had the opportunity to interview these twins on their music to education. Here is what they had to say.

When did you two start singing?
We have always sung together, but we started singing more often and taking voice lessons at
the age of 14.

Was it your dream to be singers?
Yes, it has always been our dream to become singers and even more after watching the film
``Camp Rock´´. That film really inspired us.

Tell us about your style of singing?
In general , we like all kinds of music, but our style is definitely pop.

Are there challenges pursuing a singing career and being normal young ladies?
Yes, there are. We need to make time for college and for the music and sometimes we have
time issues.

Do your parents and friends support you two?
Yes, they´re always very supportive. We´re very lucky.

Do you two write your own songs?
Yes ! We love songwriting, and we have already written a lot of original songs. We´re going to
release our CD very soon and our first original song called ``It was beautiful´´ is already
available on Itunes, Spotify, SoundCloud, Shazam(...)
The official video will be on youtube very soon.

If so, tell us what goes into writing a great song?
The lyrics have to be unique and original and it will always be easier and better to write a song
about a personal experience you´ve had.

Where was your first performance, were you two excited?
Our first performance was at the age of 14 in our Music School. We sang Avril Lavinge´s
``When you´re gone´´ and we were really nervous and excited at the same time. It was the first time we both performed together in front of a lot of people.

How do you two prepare your voices for a performance?
Before the performance we always rehearse a lot the songs. As we live together, we have
more time to rehearse the songs . We also try to drink a lot of water and we before a rehearsal
or a performance we always warm up our voices at least 20 minutes.

If I went to one of your concerts, what can fans and I expect?
You can expect mostly young people aged 8-24 .

Where have you two been able to perform?
Last summer (2015) we took part in a Spanish Tv singing contest called ``Cazastars´´ and we
won , so we had the huge opportunity to perform at the Starlite Festival (Marbella, Spain) as
the opening act of Alejandro Sanz.

Who inspires you two with your singing and songwriting?
Our inspirations for singing and songwriting are Tori Kelly, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

If you two could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and with who/ why?
If we could perform anywhere in the world, we would like to perform all around the world
haha, we would like to get to know all the people who is supporting us on youtube .

What do you two hope to accomplish with your singing/songwriting?
Our dream is to be professional singers and we hope people like our originals and feel
identified.

What three words best describe you two and your music?
Twins, funny, pop.

Any advice for those wanting to start a career in singing and songwriting?
It´s a very good idea to start posting some videos on youtube and to take part in different TV
singing contests.

When writing a song, it´s also a great idea to write about your feelings.

Any other talents?
Paula plays the piano and Aitana plays the guitar.
We´re also able to speak 4 languages: English, Spanish, French and Basque.

Passionate about any charities, if so, why?
Yes, of course! We believe that helping people is so important to make a better world, and put
a little happiness in someone´s life! 

Is education important?
Yes! Education is always important, because it´s difficult to make a living out of music nowadays.
