Camden Public Library Events November 5 through November 19

Thursday, November 12

“Weathering Shame” will be presented by one of Maine’s leading weathermen, WCSH 6 News Center’s Kevin Mannix and his social worker wife Linda Rota, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The book is a personal journey of shame and stigma penned by two respected professionals about their individual experiences with shame throughout their childhood and adult lives, stemming from growing up with alcoholism, severe depression, and suicide. The authors’ goal is for readers to benefit from their struggles, raise awareness, and be inspired and encouraged.

“Get Started on Your Career Plan,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. New Ventures Maine (formerly Maine Center for Women, Work, and Community) will offer a free workshop on career planning at the Camden Public Library. Indoor Book Sale at the Camden Public Library, 1:00-4:00 pm, to benefit the book fund.


Tuesday, November 17

“The Gift of Tangier” with Anouar Majid, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, presented by the Camden Conference. Majid is the author of five critically acclaimed books on Islam and the West.


Thursday, November 19

Louis Bevier, Maine ornithologist and advanced bird identifier, will present a program on Rare Birds of Maine, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, hosted by the Midcoast Audubon Society.


Tuesday, November 24

Leer y charlar Spanish language reading and conversation group, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, open to all who are proficient in Spanish.

“Effective Altruism” presented by Camden native Kyle Scott, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, on the growing social movement founded on the desire to make the world as good a place as it can be, and the use of evidence and reason to find out how to do so.
