Rockland Public Library Poetry Month Art Opening

Rockland, Maine - Rockland Public Library invites you to the opening of Poetry Month with the In Air, On Land, At Sea art reception, Wednesday, April 1st at 3:00 pm. On display this month will be preparatory drawings, photo references and photographs documenting last summer’s completion of a large-scale mural designed and directed by Alexis Iammarino at Rockland’s Recreation Center. The mural is entitled Life and History of Rockland, which encompasses themes of nature and love of landscape, food & art, education, resilience, maritime history, and our diverse industries.

Alexis Iammarino works with middle school youth, teens, and the community at large to support Community and Mural Arts programs at both SaturdayStudio at the Rockland Rec. Center and with fellow Arts in Action teaching artist, Sarah Rogers. Arts in Action is a project of Adult and Community Education’s, Rockland After-School Alliance (RASA)

Come and enjoy refreshments and conversation as we kick off our month-long celebration of poetry with a beautiful visual display reflecting this year’s theme!
