Portland, ME 3-5-15 – As the cost of higher education continues to increase, students and their families struggle to find ways to pay their college expenses. Scholarships are a great way to help fill college funding gaps. Any scholarship amount earned will reduce the amount students need to pay or borrow for their college education. Maine students should be sure to check out the listing of local scholarships administered by Maine Education Services. These programs include:
- The Richard H. & Scottie Pierce Family Foundation Scholarship Program – twenty $1,000 scholarships to high school and adult students who are residents of Somerset County. Deadline April 1, 2015.
- Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund – sixteen $1,000 scholarships to high school and adult students (one per county). Deadline April 15, 2015.
- Maine State Chamber of Commerce Scholarship – three $1,500 scholarships to high school and adult students. Deadline April 15, 2015.
- Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship – two $2,500 scholarships for college students. Deadline April 15, 2015.
- Maine Manufacturers Career & Training Foundation Scholarship – Open to high school and adult students looking to study technical machine or metal working trades. Scholarship amounts and quantity vary each year depending upon need. Deadline April 15, 2015.
