Up And Coming Jazz And World Music Bassist Touring With His New Trio
Kittery, Maine - After a jaw-dropping performance at The Dance Hall with pianist Haruka Yabuno in September 2014, director Drika Overton was eager to find a way to have jazz bassist Ehud Ettun back. The Ehud Ettun Trio "Snow Tour" 2015 provided the perfect opportunity and on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30pm the highly acclaimed young musician returns.
"Quickly establishing himself as an up-and-coming bassist on the Jazz and world music scene" (Jazz Earshot), Ehud Ettun has performed at venues ranging from New York's Blue Note to Washington's Kennedy Center and Boston's Symphony Hall and collaborated with artists such as George Garzone, Danilo Perez, Fred Hersh, Eli Degibri, Anat Cohen, Ferenc Nemeth, Donny McCaslin, Frank London and others.
His new trio, together with pianist Daniel Schwarzwald and drummer Matan Asayag have recently released their album "Raw Gestures", that was rated #1 on the Jazz category in the iTunes chart in Israel. His repertoire includes everything from standards and wide-ranging originals to jazz arrangements of Bartók’s Romanian Dances.
In his review of the album Jon Garelick wrote in the Boston Globe "Whatever his virtuoso flights, Ettun never loses his grasp of a performance’s essential musicality. His upper-register flurries support a performance rather than distracting from it. And in the lower registers, Ettun can conjure the deep soulfulness of Charlie Haden."
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased at www.thedancehallkittery.org or www.brownpapertickets.com.
