ROCKLAND, Maine - The Knox County Regional Microloan fund program has a loan for Sweet Peas Consignment to further fund its expansion and relocation to 229 Park Street, Rockland.

Sweet Peas Consignment received an $8,000 loan to assist in their move and expansion at their new site on Park Street, at the intersection of Park Street and Payne Ave. Sweet Peas, a family consignment store specializing in baby and youth clothing and equipment is relocating and expanding their selection of inventory to accommodate the whole family. According to Owner, Laurie Campbell, "Our business has been doing fabulously and this new location will allow us the space to better serve our community by adding a much larger selection consisting of:  Adult Men's, Women's, Plus Sizes, and Maternity Clothing, as well as household furnishings."  We will also be serving non-profits locally to support those in need with donations. "I feel that it's importang to take care of those in need here in our community first. After that our donations go over-seas to third world countries. Campbell says that the main goal for this new store, is to be a one stop shop for the whole family!" A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting is being planned for July 12th from noon to 5:00. Domino's Pizza will be serving fresh, hot, pizza. There will be a bounce house for the children, & "Kyle The Balloon Guy" from Just Jump'n will be making fun balloon creations!

The Knox County Regional Microloan fund is a small capital funding source for companies in the participating communities of Rockland, Rockport, Union, Warren, Thomaston, and Belfast.  The member communities are represented on the loan committee.  Loans are available for up to $25,000 and require the creation of jobs, some of which must be taken by persons of low to moderate income.  The City of Rockland administers the fund program for the participating communities.
