CAMDEN, ME - In the Mid-Coast from August 18th through to the 21st was thee Penobscot Bay Rendezvous. This event took place in Rockland, Thomaston & Camden with a full lineup of events. Penobscot Bay Rendezvous was created by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding (Thomaston) and Wayfarer Marine (Camden).
Maine is home to some of the world's finest boatbuilders and boatyards, when you combine two of those boatyards and marinas, with a fleet of sailors and yachtsmen, add delicious local fare, fireworks and a dance band plus some of the most beautiful coastline in Maine, you have the Penobscot Bay Rendezvous.
This years event opened up on Thursday with skippers meeting, dinner and fireworks at Lyman-Morse in Thomaston. On Friday through Saturday were sailing boat races, powerboat photo pursuits, outside viewing of In Our Wake: Maine's Maritime Heritage film (Friday night). Sunday brought a sailing boat race and powerboat poker run. Also, on Sunday were the award ceremony with these final results announced. The weather was perfect for Penobscot Bay Rendezvous with morning fog and bright sunshine in the afternoon. Overall, this year's event was great with fireworks, food, sail boat racing and more.
