ROCKLAND - After spending several day at North End Shipyard for work, the Historic Schooner Bowdoin apart of the Maine Maritime Academy was on her way home to Castine, Maine, her homeport. Bowdoin usually spends several months at a time with students aboard for scientific expeditions to the Arctic Circle.

Also, Bowdoin will spend time in Maine visiting traditional sailing and community festivals throughout the State. Bowdoin was the first to send short wave communications from Refuge Harbor, Greenland in 1923 while wintering there.

Below are photographs of her on the way home.

You can read more about Bowdoin on her website at http://bowdoin.mma.edu/.
