Rockland, Maine - Hundreds of people young and old turned out for annual Summer Solstice hosted by Rockland Main Street INC on Saturday, June 15th, 2019 in Rockland, Maine.
Big hit during the event were annual Rockland Sculpture Race, Studio Red performing routines on Main Street and Whoopie Pie Eatting Contest.

Rockland's Summer Solstice celebration is decades-long tradition for residents from all over the Midcoast region bringing hundreds of families to a Main Street that was closed to all vehicular traffic for 3 hours. During that time, the street was be filled with pedestrians enjoying live bands, plenty of food, and fun for all ages.
The traditional Whoopie Pie-Eating Contest, sponsored by Rockland Café, live bands, performers and plenty of food options. Free face painting, temporary tattoos, giant bubbles and a street chalk-art were all part of the fun.
Rockland, Maine -Summer Solstice Celebration is hosted by Rockland Main Street, Inc. Main Street, in between Park & Summer Streets, vehicular traffic is closed from 4:00-7:00 PM for this fun, family event, sponsored by: Journey's End Marina, Island Institute, Back Cove Yachts, and Bud Light. Rockland, Maine - Hundreds of people filled Main Street for Rockland's annual Summer Solstice held on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 in Rockland, Maine from 4-8pm. This event is put on by Rockland Main Street INC and sponsored by Island Institute.
At this year's event there were things for everyone from food vendors to dance performances by students of Rockland School of Ballet and the highlight of the evening, Studio Red. Another highlight was the oh so popular Whoopie Pie eating contest. There was also a 5k road race, flash dance, music and more.

The downtown restaurants, food specialty shops along with retail shops all participated with Food, Solstice Sidewalk Sales, and Entertainment and Activities.
Maine's "Official Treat" is featured in The Whoopie Pie Eating Contest.
Street Entertainment featuring local groups performed throughout the evening on the street. Paul Benjamin, North Atlantic Blues Festival, brought back Summer Solstice favorite bands along Main Street with a wide variety of types of music and en exciting presentation from the Studio Red dancers.
