BREAKING NEWS: Firefighters Battling 2nd-Alarm 175 Rankin Street Rockland Structure Fire

11:11pm Update: According to Rockland Fire, Rockland Fire was dispatched to a building fire at 175 Rankin Street. The caller stated that the apartment was on fire but that no one was inside when they exited the building. Car 1 arrived to find heavy fire venting from the second story and a second alarm was struck. The duty crew (C-Shift) arrived with 5 personnel and immediately placed a handline into operation and began fire attack. Two additional handlines were put into place once more help arrived from our off duty and mutual aid companies. The fire was extinguished with about 750 gallons of water and was contained to the apartment of origin. The adjacent apartments had minimal smoke and water damage. CMP disconnected the power to the apartments and most of the tenants were staying with friend or family for the night. RFD and FMO will be back on the scene investigating the fire tomorrow. No injuries occurred as a result of the fire.

As is true with any fire, a quick response saves lives and property. A staffed fire department is able to respond quicker and mitigate the hazards sooner, preventing further fire spread and damage from occurring. Crews were able to contain the fire to the apartment of origin.
