Major Coastal Storm Thursday and Thursday Night Blizzard Conditions Possible

...Major Coastal Storm Possible Thursday and Thursday Night...

.Low pressure will take shape east of Florida during the day
Wednesday and then strengthen rapidly as it lifts north to a
position off the New England coast on Thursday and into the
Canadian maritimes Thursday night. This storm has the potential to
bring heavy snow and strong winds...especially to coastal
sections of Maine and New Hampshire where blizzard conditions are
possible. Some uncertainty remains with regards to the exact
track of this storm...so stay tuned to later updates. As this
storm departs on Friday...bitterly cold air will arrive from
Canada...along with strong northwesterly winds.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions possible. Travel could be very
difficult to impossible, including during the evening commute on
Thursday. Snowfall in excess of six inches is possible.

* WHERE...Coastal sections of western Maine and New Hampshire.

* WHEN...From Thursday morning through Friday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 40 mph could
cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant
drifting of the snow is also possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch for blizzard conditions means there is a
potential for falling and/or blowing snow with strong winds and
extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to whiteout conditions
and make travel very dangerous.
