January Programs for Job Seekers at the York County CareerCenter

Springvale, Maine - The York County CareerCenter, located at 9 Bodwell Court in Springvale, continues its workshop programs for job seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability.

"As Maine continues its historic run of low unemployment, now is the perfect time to find work as we head into a new year," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "Maine employers have over 10,000 jobs listed on Maine JobLink, from entry level to professional. CareerCenters continue to sponsor monthly job fairs and provide no-cost job search assistance, resume writing workshops and career counseling. You may also qualify for support to train for a new career. I encourage you to connect with your closest Maine CareerCenter for help with your career search."

CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops on location, at local businesses or other organizations at no cost. The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Springvale unless otherwise noted.

**Monthly Job Fair - Monday, January 22, 1 to 4 p.m.**

Explore your next employment opportunity. Representatives from several companies will be at the York County CareerCenter interviewing for current openings. Please visit http://www.mainecareercenter.gov/employment/jobfairs.shtml for a list of participating employers. The list will be updated as employers confirm attendance. No appointment required.

**GATEways to Employment - Wednesdays, January 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon**

Join this workshop if you are looking for a basic overview of CareerCenter Services as well as resume, interview and job search skills. Gateway to Employment gives an overview of basic information on Resumes, Interviews and Job Search skills as well as CareerCenter and community resources available to you during your job search. Seats are limited, please call 324-5460 to register.

**Essentials of College Planning Workshop - Mondays, January 8, 22 and 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.**

A FREE interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration is required. **Resume and Interview Coaching - Tuesday, January 16, 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon**

Your resume is your marketing tool that helps you land the all-important interview. Join us and learn the dos and don'ts of resume writing and how to stand out in a positive way. Then we'll show you how to emphasize your skills and motivate the interviewer to hire you. Call 324-5460 today to reserve a seat.

**Career Exploration Workshop - Thursday, January 25 and Friday, January 26**

This extensive and informative workshop will be offered to Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Clients at the Springvale CareerCenter. Vocational Rehabilitation clients will be able to explore a variety of career paths, and research the required skills needed for these careers. Registration through Vocational Rehabilitation is required. Please call 822-3300 and ask for Vocational Rehabilitation to register.

- CoWorx and MASIS - Wednesdays, January 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, noon to 3:00 p.m. - People Ready - Wednesday, Janaury 10 and 24, noon to 3 p.m.

**Workforce Solutions** administers federally funded employment and training programs through the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Certain eligibility requirements apply.
