This evacuation is voluntary today, September 7, 2017 however it will become mandatory tomorrow, Friday. September 8, 2017 at 8:00 a.m.
The evacuation zone includes all of the City of Clewiston, Hookers Point, Harlem, Flaghole, Montura Ranch Estates and the communities located within the Mid-County MSBU which includes Ladeca, Pioneer Plantation and Leon-Dennis Subdivision (Al Don Farming Road).
Please be reminded that Hendry County has already issued a voluntary evacuation for all residents in non-slab built homes, mobile homes, trailers and R.V.’s.
If you have the means to evacuate without assistance, it is recommended that you do so at this time. Evacuating to a shelter should be last resort. There is limited space available in the shelters.
If you require assistance for evacuation, Hendry County is working with the local and State officials
on transportation assistance to get Residents out of the evacuation zone.
There will be no shelters activated in Clewiston.
Hendry County has activated all shelters in the western portion of the County for residents in the evacuation zone. Shelters will be open effective 8:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017.
Shelters currently available at 8am on Friday, September 8, 2017 are as follows:

These shelters are not pet friendly, however, service animals are allowed.
The County is working with local and State leaders to provide additional shelters within the region.
If residents in the evacuation zone plan to evacuate to one of these shelters, they are asked to bring their own bedding along with a gallon of water per person, per day and enough food for 3 days as well as any prescription medications they need.
All evacuees are encouraged to take all important, personal documents and identification.
The County has set up a hotline for residents to call for information regarding, evacuation, shelters, transportation and all other related concerns. This hotline will available beginning at 8am, Friday September 8, 2017.

Hendry County officials are in constant communication with State officials to continue monitoring the storm and will update the public as information becomes available.

Evacuations and Emergency Shelter Openings Announced
Evacuations - Mandatory evacuations will go into place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, for Goodland, Everglades City and Chokoloskee. Hurricane Irma has the potential to induce dangerous and damaging storm surge in those areas.
Residents of mobile homes throughout Collier County, especially those east of Collier Boulevard (S.R. and C.R. 951), are strongly advised to evacuate to a hardened structure or to an emergency shelter.
Emergency Shelters - Those who plan to use emergency shelters should take any necessary medications, cell phone chargers, toiletries, favorite snacks and anything else they need to be comfortable.
A special needs only shelter will open at Palmetto Ridge High School, 1655 Victory Lane, Naples, Florida 34120, at 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, for electrically dependent or bed ridden pre-registered clients who require nursing care. A family member or caregiver is asked to accompany the special needs person at the shelter.
General population shelters will open at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, at the following locations. Note, lunch will not be served.

• North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road, Naples, Florida 34109 (pets allowed – please note that due to preregistration, this shelter is full and will not accept anyone who is not already registered)
• Gulf Coast High School, 7878 Shark Way, Naples, Florida 34119 (no pets)
• Oak Ridge Middle School, 14975 Collier Blvd., Naples, Florida 34119 (no pets)
• Lely High School, 1 Lely High School Blvd., Naples, Florida 34113 (no pets)
Note the shelters at Immokalee Middle, Cypress Palm and North Collier Regional Park will be pet friendly for vaccinated and crated dogs and cats only. Pet owners must bring their vaccination records, the appropriate size kennel for their animals, food and water for a minimum of three days, bowls and all supplies including waste bags and litter. When taking pets outside, they must remain leashed, and pet owners are responsible for picking up pet waste. There must be a family member or care taker of the pet present in the shelter always.
Collier Area Transit (CAT) - To facilitate transportation to and from the county’s emergency shelters, Collier Area Transit fares will be waived beginning Friday, Sept. 8, until the emergency shelters close. Buses with routes close to open shelters will deviate to take residents who need a ride to the shelter.

All residents are advised to remain calm and to stay tuned to radio and television broadcasts for further advisories. Evacuees should move as soon as possible to the homes of friends or family who live outside of evacuation areas.
Miami-Dade Transit buses continue to provide service to shelters until 10:00 p.m. tonight. To find the nearest bus pick-up location go online to www.miamidade.gov/emergency or call the 311 Contact Center.
At noon today, Miami-Dade Transit opened their parking garages as an area of refuge for personal cars. The following eight garages have opened and spaces are on a first-come first-served basis: Dadeland South, Dadeland North, South Miami, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Earlington Heights, Okeechobee, Brownsville, and Santa Clara. However, please note Miami-Dade County will not be responsible for any damage, theft, or vandalism to any cars parked in our garages.
Miami International Airport remains open. Many flights have been canceled, which is why passengers need to call their airline directly.
PortMiami will close beginning at 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
All garbage and recycling services will continue to be provided as usual today and tomorrow.
Bulky waste scheduling was suspended this morning. However, crews will continue to pick up previously scheduled piles. Miami-Dade County’s 13 neighborhood trash and recycling centers, will continue to operate from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for those that need to immediately dispose of trash.
Parks and Libraries are closed as of this morning.
Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover services will begin operating on a Sunday schedule tomorrow.
Those residents that are planning on leaving town, but have not left yet, are urged to leave early. For those not on the road today, it is recommended not to try and leave tomorrow.

Barrier Islands/Manasota Key and Mobile Homes Evacuation Recommended
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Sept. 7, 2017) – Charlotte County Emergency Management is recommending residents residing on Don Pedro Island, Knight Island (Palm Island), Little Gasparilla Island, Gasparilla Island, Manasota Key, and residents living in mobile homes throughout the county to evacuate.

Reminder when the island is evacuated, Charlotte County Fire and EMS Station 10 staff are required to evacuate as well. (No helicopters are available during the storm)

Mandatory evacuations are being ordered for residential structures in Palm Beach County in Zone A, Zone B and the Glades, effective at 10 a.m. Friday, September 8. A voluntary evacuation is being issued for residents in Zone C.
Zone A includes mobile homes and low-lying areas prone to water intrusion.
Zone B generally includes the barrier islands, land areas north and south of the Jupiter Inlet, and other surge-vulnerable areas along the Intracoastal Waterway.
A voluntary evacuation order is being issued for Zone C which is only for residents who are unsure of the safety of their structure or if their structure is prone to excessive flooding (i.e., have experienced water inside their homes in previous storms).
Zone C generally includes properties from the Intracoastal waterway west to US Highway 1 in South County and Central County, and areas in close proximity to the Loxahatchee River and the northern tip of the Lake Worth Lagoon.
The Glades Area evacuation zone includes the entire Lake Region including the communities of Lake Harbor, South Bay, Belle Glade, Pahokee and Canal Point. Bus service is being provided for these evacuees to shelters in other areas of the county. This evacuation does not include the eastern areas of Zone E, only the Glades section of Zone E.
Pick-ups will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Lake Shore Middle and Pahokee Middles schools. The last bus leaves at 5 p.m.
The entire Palm Beach County area around Lake Okeechobee, not just the area known as Zone E, is under an evacuation order. If using the DART application or our online tool and you enter your Glades area address it may indicate that you are not in the evacuation zone. All of the Glades area communities are now in the evacuation zone.
Zone A has approximately 49,000 residents.
Zone B has approximately 74,000 residents.
Zone C has approximately 138,000 residents.
The Glades has approximately 32,000 residents.
If you are not in an evacuation zone, please shelter in place. We do not want people stranded on the roadways without fuel.
