Tom Jamrog, Hiker Extraordinaire, at Rockland Public Library March 20, 2014 at 6:00 pm

Rockland, Maine - The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDNST) is one of the most significant trail systems in the world. Established by Congress in 1978, it spans up to 3,100 miles between Mexico and Canada.

Very few people have been able to complete backpacking the Continental Divide Trail ( CDT) in one season. The CDT is less a designated trail than a corridor over the spine of the Rocky Mountains. This National Scenic Trail is known for navigational challenges, extremes of weather, and in the northern states of Wyoming and Montana country, encounters with grizzly bears.

Join Tom Jamrog, who will be presenting a video/slide talk on his 5-month, 2013 walk about the highs and lows of traveling through 25 National Forests, 21 Wilderness areas, 3 National Parks, 1 National Monument, and 8 BLM resource areas through the states of Montana,  Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. The unofficial slogan of the CDT is "Embrace the Brutality".

Tom lives in Lincolnville, and has also completed thru-hikes of the Appalachian (2007) and the Pacific Crest (2010) Trails.
