Portland Ovations Presents So Percussion: "Where (we) Live" at the ICA at MECA

Portland, Maine - Portland Ovations in collaboration with The Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art presents the modern percussion ensemble So Percussion at ICA at MECA for two concerts Thursday, March 13 at 7:30pm and 9:30pm.

Part experimental music gig, part multimedia rock show, part happening, So Percussion's Where (we) Live is a freeform investigation of the places and spaces we call home. Portland photographer Bryan Graf, who shares an affinity for chance and spontaneity, will join So Percussion and the Where (we) Live collaborators to create an evening that is one-of-a-kind.

So Percussion redefines the modern percussion ensemble as a flexible, omnivorous entity, pushing its voice to the forefront of American musical culture. The ensemble has been praised by the New Yorker for their "exhilarating blend of precision and anarchy, rigor and bedlam," with Entertainment Weekly adding, "Time and again ... you find yourself smiling in quiet amazement that could verge on disbelief."

Tickets for So Percussion: "Where (we) Live" are $27 for Ovations' Members and $30 for the general public. The 7:30pm performance is sold out but a second 9:30pm performance has just been added. Support for So Percussion is generously provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Performance Network. To purchase tickets visit www.portlandovations.org, call PortTIX at 207.842.0800 or go to the box office window at Merrill Auditorium.
