Santa Arrives & Official Tree Lighting 11-26-2010

Santa Arrival & Tree Lighting Report
By David Mills

My report today will start with Santa's arrival by Coast Guard boat to Rockland Public Landing in Rockland, Maine, then a report on the Lobster Trap Christmas Tree lighting.

Santa's Arrival

(Rockland, Maine)  In Rockland on a foggy and damp Friday afternoon Santa arrived by Coast Guard boat at the Public Landing. Santa and Mrs. Clause was welcomed by kids with their parents as well as a light rain. It's not the best way for Santa to arrive to start the Christmas Season off. The rain didn't keep people from coming out as the Public Landing dock was filled with kids and their parents. As Santa made his way to a Horse Drawn Carriage to take him and Mrs. Clause to his workshops. Their was kids wanting to meet Santa and to maybe snap a shot or two by their parents. Kids were lined up at his workshops waiting for Santa to arrive to tell him what they want for Christmas. At the workshop kids sat on Santa's lap and told him what they want for Christmas.

I was blessed to be able to cover this arrival of Santa and see all the parents and kids. It would of been better if it wasn't rainy and cloudy for Santa's arrival. As he arrived to Public Landing and to his workshop I was able to be there to take photographs of this Community event apart of the Festival of Lights. Please enjoy the enjoy the following photographs of Santa's arrival.

Lobster Trap Christmas Tree Lighting

In Rockland on a cold and clear Friday evening was the Official Tree Lighting ceremony. Kicking off the ceremony was the playing of Christmas music for awhile then came speeches. One of the speakers was Rockland's New mayor Brian Harden. After the short speeches Santa arrived by Trolley to greet the kids and to light the tree. Santa himself said a short speech before the lighting of the tree. Also in attendances was the newly crowned Maine Lobster Festival Sea Goddess Emily Benner along with the Crown Princess. There was a big crowed to watch the tree be lit and of course Santa Claus.

Please enjoy the following photographs from this year's tree lighting as I had fun covering this event.

The arrival of Santa and the Tree Lighting was fun to cover as well as a good way to kick off the Christmas Season. I hope you enjoyed viewing the photographs from these two events.
