Rockland Lobster Trap Christmas Tree Goes Up 11-19-2010

(Rockland, Maine) In Rockland on a cold and mostly sunny Friday morning people came from the apprentice shop and the U.S Coast Guard to help build the 35 foot Lobster Trap Tree at the foot of the Public landing across from Bricks. It took until around noontime to have the whole tree built then it was time to decorate it. The people that stayed to help decorate the tree took until 3:00 to 3:30pm. This year was different then other year's when people help build the 35 foot tall Lobster Trap Tree. What made this year different is Discovery Channel was here to film for a show called Extreme Christmas Trees. It was great to see them here filming the building of Rockland's Lobster Trap Tree. There was also a mock tree lighting at 6PM with Santa and Mrs. Clause to light the tree.

Rockland Main Street puts this event of building the Lobster Trap Tree and other events on to celebrate the Christmas season.

It is worth mentioning that The Black Bull Tavern provided lunch for the workers. Rock City also provided coffee for the workers.

Please remember this coming Friday is the Official Tree Lighting at around 6PM then the Parade of Lights on Saturday during the evening starting around 6PM.

Now please enjoy the following 199 photographs from yesterdays Tree building and mock lighting.
