Ahsinger finishes 15th in women's trampoline at 2016 Olympic Games

RIO DE JANEIRO  – Nicole Ahsinger of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, finished 15th in the women’s trampoline qualification round at the 2016 Olympic Games, held at the Rio Olympic Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Trampoline continues tomorrow at 2 p.m. Rio time with the men’s competition that includes the USA’s Logan Dooley of Lake Forest, Calif/World Elite Gymnastics.

The trampoline competition features one compulsory and one optional round for the preliminaries, with the top eight advancing to the finals, where one optional routine is performed.

Ahsinger scored a 45.250 for a solid compulsory routine highlighted with a double front half-out and piked half-in, Rudi out. Her optional routine included a Rudi out; half-in, half-out piked; double pike; and layout full-full to score a 50.205. The first-time Olympian earned a combined total of 95.455 to finish in 15th place.

Canada’s Rosannagh MacLennan won gold with a score of 56.465. Great Britain’s Bryony Page earned the silver medal with a 56.040 and China’s Dan Li claimed the bronze medal with a 55.885.

Following men’s trampoline, men’s and women’s gymnastics takes center stage again with the individual event finals Aug. 14-16. USA wins 29 medals at T&T’s 2012 Loule Cup and World Cup

Indianapolis, Indiana – The United States won 29 medals at the 2012 Loule Cup and World Cup of Trampoline at the Loule (Portugal) Municipal Sports Hall on final day.

The World Cup had events in trampoline, synchronized trampoline and tumbling.  Dakota Earnest of Plains, Texas/Acrospirits, and Alicia Powder of Ladera Ranch, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics, earned the silver medal for synchronized trampoline.  Earnest also advanced to the finals for trampoline, where she finished sixth. In tumbling, Garret Waterstradt of Paxton, Ill./Irish’s Gymnastics, and Brittney Bernard of Bixby, Okla./Oklahoma Extreme Tumbling both placed fifth in the finals.

The Loule Cup featured competition in trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline for senior, junior and Olympic development levels.  The USA won 28 medals at the Loule Cup, including eight gold. Four U.S. women won two medals each at the Loule Cup: Rachel Thevenot of Metairie, Texas/Elmwood, -- gold for tumbling and bronze for double mini, under 13 girls; Alyssa Oh of Rocklin, Calif./Technique T&T – gold in trampoline and silver for double mini-trampoline, under 13 girls; Carly Townsend of Foothill Ranch, Calif./World Elite – gold for double mini and silver for trampoline, under 13 girls; and Madi Webster of Odon, Ind./Tumbling Express – gold for double mini and silver for trampoline, 13-14 girls.
