College Admission Event at the Rockport Public Library‏

How do colleges really choose students? An inside look at the college admissions process
Rockport, Maine - Wendy Thompson of Westport Educational Consulting will talk about the college admission process at The Rockport Public Library Wednesday April 15th, 6:30 pm.


High school students and their parents are invited to an informative, interactive, and entertaining presentation to help families understand the role essays, interviews, extracurricular activities, sports, and other factors play in the admissions decisions colleges make.


Wendy served on the admissions staff at Bowdoin College from 2000-2012, where she evaluated thousands of applications. She also advised students at college planning workshops at Lehigh University. Her college and independent school admissions career spans thirty years.

Mah-Jongg Classes at the Rockport Public Library‏

Mah-Jongg Classes

at The Rockport Public Library March 21st & 28th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Rockport, Maine - Volunteers and Mah-jongg enthusiasts, Chris Sady and Lila Vultee are offering free Mah-jongg classes at the library. They will be held the last two Saturdays in March.

Reservations are required, since class size is limited to 12.  March 21 and 28 from 2-4pm. Please call the library 236-3642 save your place in the class.

Learn to Make Snowshoes with Master Traditional Snowshoe Maker Brian J. Theriault

Rockport, Maine - With over 20 years’ experience as a Master Traditional Snowshoe Maker, Brian J. Theriault knows his craft inside out. In a bold attempt to keep the art of snowshoe making alive, he has released a comprehensive guide that anyone can follow. From cutting down the right tree to weaving the resulting wood and finally enjoying the end product – snowshoe making is now within the grasp of the average person.

Brian J. Theriault will join us for the evening on Wednesday December 10th at 6:30 to talk about the ins and outs of making snowshoes.

Summer Movie Series at Rockport Public Library‏

Rockport, Maine - Rockport Public Library is pleased to present our “Summer at the Movies” series for kids. This is a free program every Wednesday night beginning at 6:00 PM starting on July 25. Each week the children’s room will turn into a movie theatre using our state of the art audio-visual equipment. Popcorn will be provided. Due to our licensing agreement we cannot advertise the names of the films but please call the library to find out what is playing. We guarantee it will be fun for the whole family!
