Bangor, Maine - Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) is the recipient of $125,000 from KeyBank to the Remarkable Begins With You capital campaign, EMMC’s modernization project. The seven-story, 300,000+ sq. ft. addition is a $294 million project and KeyBank is the first bank to offer financial support.“This is a state of the art facility that has been designed to improve the care that people in Bangor and the northern two-thirds of Maine receive,” Sterling Kozlowski, president, New England District, KeyBank, said of the project. “We’re dedicated to making Maine a great place to live, and this is one way we can help make that happen.”
In recognition of this generous donation, the family lounge of the new EMMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will be named for KeyBank. The construction project has just begun and will be underway for several years. In addition to the updated NICU, modernizations will include updated operating rooms to accommodate current and future medical advancements, an increase in hospital beds and private rooms, enhancements to Women and Infants services, and Heart Care consolidation.
“This is a huge project and we are fortunate the community is supporting this campaign,” said Brad Coffey, EMMC Foundation vice president for philanthropy. “KeyBank is the first financial organization to make a donation to the campaign, and we are incredibly grateful for their involvement.
The first phase of construction is expected to run into 2015 and the project will be completed in 2017.
KeyCorp is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. One of the nation’s largest bank-based financial services companies, the New England District stretches from Presque Isle, Maine, to Brattleboro, Vt., and has 74 branches and approximately 530 employees.
