“Every year, DAV provides support to more than
one million veterans, from helping them to access health care and education benefits, to connecting them to meaningful employment opportunities,” said Senator Collins. “I look forward to our continued work together to ensure that veterans receive the benefits and resources they have earned through their service.”
Earlier this month, Senator Collins co-sponsored a bipartisan bill to reinstate a critical rule allowing veterans and their representatives 48 hours to review and dispute disability claims verdicts before they are finalized. Last month, she sponsored legislation to provide combat-injured veterans with less than 20 years of military service their full benefits, and she introduced a bill to reduce the financial burden for severely disabled veterans who require special adaptive equipment to drive a motor vehicle.
Founded in 1920, DAV is a veteran service organization that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families.
