Founders Day kicks off with Pie Social‏

Kick off Founders Day weekend with Union Area Chamber of Commerce’s  “Now Famous Pie Social”   with the high octane blues of the Juke Rockets on the Union Common, Friday, July 19th at 5:30 PM

Union, Maine - It’s time bring your whole family to the Union Common, spread out blankets, set up lawn chairs and enjoy a fun-filled evening starting with a picnic-style dinner. This Founder’s Day kick off is a tradition for area residents who have learned to come early and bring a hearty appetite. Chamber members will be selling fresh grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, but don’t forget to save room for the main event —mouth watering, home made pies! Choose from an irresistible selection donated by area bakers that will include chocolate cream, peanut butter, banana cream and classics like blueberry and apple to name just a few. There’s certain to be that perfect slice—or perhaps a whole pie to take home—that will appeal to every member of  your family.

Musical entertainment will feature the Juke Rockets, twice named Maine’s top blues band and recently returned from representing Maine in the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Their high octane, high energy blues will make people of all ages want to get up and dance.

The Pie Social is an annual event of the Union Area Chamber of Commerce and is generously sponsored by The Common Market. Proceeds from the sale of pies supports the Union Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship fund which is available for elementary, junior high or high school students who need financial assistance to pursue education or projects that relate to business, entrepreneurship, or leadership.  Non-traditional students who live within the service area are also eligible to apply. Visit the Chamber’s website for complete details.
