UPDATED BREAKING NEWS VIDEO: Thomaston Super WalMart Bomb Threat

Thomaston, Maine - The Super WalMart in Thomaston Maine Received a bomb threat around 3:30 this afternoon..  The store has been evacuated and was still closed at the time of publication..  Local and State police are on site along with Fire and EMS.

There are also reports of two other WalMarts receiving bomb threats this afternoon.

The following is a statement by the Thomaston Police chief Kavin Haj
About 2:25 PM We were alerted to a bomb threat at the Thomaston Wal-Mart. Upon arrival the store was evacuated of patrons and staff. I was learned that an employee was attempting to handle a phone call from an irrate individual  Prior to the completion of the call, the caller stated that there was a bomb in the store. Management was notified and the store evacuated. Thomaston Police department with assistance from the Knox County Sheriff's Department as well as the Maine State Police secured the area until the arrival of a K-( unit from the Maine State Police. Thomaston Fire and Ems assisted with securing the area.

About 5:00 PM the K-9 team completed it's search of the building. After determining that there was no apparent threat, The store was turned over to Wal-Mart management and will be re-opened soon. Thomaston Police continue to investigate.

Breaking News: The Thomaston Super WalMart has been evacuated and closed...police and fire are on site.  There are State Police and K9 unites on the way!
It has been reported that there was a bomb threat!

Walmart Hiring for Approximately 85 Jobs for Relocating Thomaston Walmart

Thomaston, Maine - Walmart will hire approximately 85 associates to work at the relocating Walmart slated to re-open this fall in Thomaston. Interested applicants can complete applications at the hiring center in the existing store, located at 265 Camden St. in Rockland.

Applications will be accepted during store hours, 7 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. Interested applicants may also apply online at http://careers.walmart.com.

Through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months.* Interested veterans may find out more at http://walmartcareerswithamission.com.

According to store manager Shawn Ames, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “We are excited to add the first Walmart to Thomaston and bring good jobs with great career opportunities to the area,” said Ames.

Walmart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associates. For example, it provides a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits including health-care coverage with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.

The majority of new associates will begin work in September to help prepare the store for its grand re-opening.

*Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart’s standard hiring criteria.
