Governor Declares State of Emergency, Closes All State Offices

AUGUSTA, Maine – With a severe winter storm bearing down on Maine, Governor Paul R. LePage has declared a State of Emergency and announced that all State offices will be closed today. The storm is expected to bring Winter Storm and Blizzard conditions to all of Maine, as well as coastal flooding to southwest Maine.

“The amount of snow and the high winds, along with blowing and drifting snow, makes this storm dangerous for many Mainers,” said the Governor. “We want everyone to stay off the roads and stay safe.”

State Offices to Close Wednesday Afternoon Due to Snow Storm

Augusta, Maine - Governor Paul R. LePage has announced that State offices in the following counties are closed this afternoon due to inclement weather: York Cumberland Sagadahoc Lincoln Knox Waldo Kennebec Androscoggin Oxford

Offices in Franklin, Somerset, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, Washington and Aroostook Counties will remain open normal business hours.

"I urge all of you to drive safely as you commute to your destination. Stopping on snow or ice without skidding requires extra time and distance. Drive slowly so you can adjust to changing road conditions. Please remember to keep a safe distance behind other vehicles and give plow trucks plenty of room to operate," said Governor LePage.

State Offices in Kennebec County Closed

Offices in the Town of Ellsworth also closed
Augusta, Maine - Governor Paul R. LePage has announced that due to widespread power outages and continued hazardous conditions associated with downed power lines from the ice storm, all state offices in KENNEBEC COUNTY and the TOWN OF ELLSWORTH will be closed today, December 24, 2013.

Since all State offices are closed tomorrow for the Christmas holiday, citizens and State employees can expect offices to reopen Thursday, December 26.

State Offices Closed Due to Storm



Mainewide - Governor Paul R. LePage has closed all State Government offices due to inclement weather today.

Citizens and State employees can expect offices to reopen Friday, Dec. 28.
