Award Winning Journalist, Paul Doiron, to be UMA Commencement Speaker; President of Maine Community Foundation, Meredith Jones, to Receive Honorary Degree at May 11th ceremony.
Augusta, Maine - On Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 AM at the Augusta Civic Center, the University of Maine at Augusta will hold its 45th Commencement Exercises. More than 600 graduates from UMA’s Augusta and Bangor campuses, online program, and University College Centers, will receive associate and baccalaureate degrees.

Paul Doiron is the editor in chief of "Down East: The Magazine of Maine," Down East Books, and DownEast.com. A native of Maine, he attended Yale University, where he graduated with a degree in English, and he holds an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. Doiron is a Registered Maine Guide specializing in fly-fishing and lives on a trout stream in coastal Maine.  He is the author of the Mike Bowditch series of crime novels, including The Poacher's Son, which won several awards.

Meredith Jones serves as the President and CEO of the Maine Community Foundation, a statewide public foundation with approximately $230 million in assets.  Before joining the Maine Community Foundation, Jones was Director of Education and Training for the Maine Health Care Association.  She has also worked as a member of former Governor Angus King’s transition team, and as staff to the Maine legislature’s Committee on Public Utilities.

Augusta, Maine - Well-known Maine mystery writer Paul Doiron is the second author in Lithgow Public Library’s ever-popular Mystery Month.  Doiron will give a reading and book signing on Thursday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m..  The series features a slate of four other exciting Maine crime authors:  Kate Flora, Vicki Doudera, Beth Feeman and Gerry Boyle.
      All Mystery Month programs are free and open to the public, and take place in the library’s Reading Room.  There will be an opportunity to purchase books at the programs.
      Doiron is the bestselling author of The Poacher’s Son, Trespasser and the newly-released Bad Little Falls.  The Down East editor-in-chief and registered Maine Guide takes a provocative look at the ties between fathers and sons amid Maine's changing landscape in his outstanding debut novel, which won the Strand Critics Award.  In Trespasser, Maine game warden Mike Bowditch’s quest to find a missing woman leads him through a forest of lies in search of a killer who may have gotten away with murder once before.
