DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Matthew Restrepo (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored a goal and added an assist in the second half to lead Western Connecticut State University to a 2-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men’s soccer game Saturday morning at the Westside Athletic Complex.

Southern Maine (5-11-1, 0-8 Little East)
Western Connecticut (15-5, 6-2 Little East)
How It Happened:
· Despite outshooting USM 16-0 (6-0 on target) in the opening half, the game was at a 0-0 at the break as senior Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine) make six first half saves.
· Restrepo broke through for the eventual game-winner in the 60th minute for his eighth goal of the season.
· Freshman Jordan Decosta (Jamaica, N.Y.) doubled the WestConn lead five minutes later. Decosta headed in his seventh goal of the season off of a service from Restrepo.
The Goalkeepers:
· Estrella finished the game with eight saves.
· WestConn senior Daniel Szabo (trumbull, Conn.) did not have to make a save in the shut out win.

Southern Maine has concluded its 2021 season. Western Connecticut awaits its seeding and pairing for the upcoming Little East Conference tournament championship which begins on Tuesday, November 2.
